New PSP Board Vice Chair Ray Andry
September 26, 2017 in Articles, Board by Joselyn Barrios
Ray Andry was voted as vice chair to the PSP board on Saturday, September 16. He is the Assistant Superintendent for the Mountain View School District and mentored three students through the program. He is excited to begin his new role and use his position as an opportunity to broaden the scope of PSP and strengthen our connections to scholars and the communities we serve.
Read more about Mr. Andry’s commitment to PSP below.
Mr. Andry first became involved with PSP while he was the principal at Charles T. Kranz Intermediate School in El Monte. He was asked to mentor three students and he was their mentor for six years in the program. Mr. Andry transitioned to his current position as Assistant Superintendent at the Mountain View School District and saw an opening for the PSP board. He says that he wanted to support the entire program as saw first hand through mentoring the impact that the program has on scholars. He saw joining the board as “opportunity to step up and help”.
Mr. Andry is able to bring a balance of policy and decision making as an administrator. He is looking forward to updating PSP’s strategic plan and bringing more opportunities for the program and our scholars. His back-to-school tip for scholars is to “communicate with their mentors and share successes but also ask for support when needed” during the school year. We are excited for Mr. Andry to begin his new position as vice chair of the board.
