Twenty one PSP scholars and three chaperones took off for a trip to Boston, Massachusetts on April 1, 2018 to visit historical sites and five colleges and universities.

It was all of the scholars’ first time in Boston and they were able to experience snow which, a first for most of them.

One student reflected, “I had a fantastic time in Boston. I really enjoyed Suffolk University. I would be interested in applying there. I also really enjoyed the Fenway Park Tour. I made new friends and memories.”

They began their day right after arriving by going on a walking tour of city and seeing Back Bay, Beacon Hill and Boston Public Gardens.

Scholars visited Salem and did walking tours of the Freedom Trail. They also got to participate in a Duck Boat tour of the city and visit Fenway Park.

The group visited Babson College, Suffolk University, Harvard, MIT and Emerson College. We asked scholars to reflect on their time in Boston and their replies are below.

“Overall the trip was amazing and I had a great time with the students. The campuses we visited were all really good schools and student lead tours were informative and from a college student’s perspective which I think left the students with a good understanding of college life. The tour guide was amazing and very knowledgeable about the city and its history. All our activities were really fun and interesting.  Again, overall the trip was great. I have already decided to chaperone the next college trip next year during spring break.  I am looking forward to seeing another great city and the colleges there.” – Michelle Brantley, Chaperone

“I had a fantastic time in Boston. I really enjoyed Suffolk University. I would be interested in applying there. I also really enjoyed the Fenway Park Tour. I made new friends and memories.” Alexis C.

“My favorite memory of Boston was when I went up to Bunker Hill that consists of 294 spiraling steps. Once you reach the top, there is an open view of the city. Although the climb has brought me to many days of soreness, it was worth it especially the view up top. I enjoyed Boston more I’d imagined; the weather was different, taxis were white instead of yellow, and I found out that there is such thing as a Boston accent. Most certainly, I had friends accompanying me which made the trip much more memorable. All that’s left to say is: Thank you PSP, for making this trip happen.” Rita K.

“I loved visiting the East Coast very much especially seeing the snow. Though I was freezing, the historical sights made up for all of the walking and cold weather especially being able to hang out with old friends and make new ones. Suffolk University caught my attention out of all of the visited campuses, I’m thinking about applying and hopefully being admitted as a student. Overall, Boston was such an awesome treat before my birthday.” Patty L.
