Cristina Ayala is an alumna of PSP, class of 2016. She now attends UC Merced and is the Vice President of Operations for an on campus organization called Generation to Generation. The organization’s mission is to enlighten and guide Merced youth through mentoring, resources, and educational workshops that promote their development.
As a part of Generation to Generation, she helps put on an event called “UC Merced Splash”. The goal of Splash is to expose students to the college environment and learn more about academics, clubs, and speak with current college students. A number of current PSP scholars will be attending Splash this year, thanks to Cristina’s relationship with PSP.

PSP has an 11 member board of trustees. They oversee the organization and we asked what they are grateful for this holiday season. We are grateful for their service and commitment to PSP and our PSP scholars.
Our Board Chair, Ms. Meg Sanchez says, “I’m grateful for more than 22 years of friendship with Dr. Glenn Langer, the founder of PSP. Because of him I have been involved in a program with wonderful, kind and intelligent scholars, mentors and donors, people I would not otherwise have had the chance to know and spend time with. He will forever be my hero.” – Ms. Sanchez, Board Chair

We asked our scholars what their favorite PSP outings were during the year.
We had many opportunities for them to experience new foods, cultures and activities.
One scholar says, “My favorite PSP outing this year was going to China Town. I got to try new food and learn about a new culture.”

Terryl Martin is on the PSP board of trustees and she mentors three scholars in the Lennox area. We spoke with Terryl about her time with PSP and why she’s inspired by the scholars in PSP.
Ms. Martin hopes that the experiences that scholars have with PSP inspire them to volunteer in the future and give back to students just like them. She loves seeing former scholars come back and mentor current PSP scholars.
Terryl said that she’s “grateful for the opportunity to participate in PSP” and that she has her scholars. “They teach me as much as I teach them,” she said.

PSP is excited to be participating in Los Angeles Magazine’s Give Los Angeles Challenge! It’s a friendly fundraising campaign launched by Los Angeles Magazine where non-profit organizations compete to raise the most money with the top teams winning grand prize cash donations.
You can donate on our CrowdRise page to help us reach our goal to raise enough funds to induct 5 new students!
The campaign began on November 15, 2017 and ends on January 2, 2018 at 12:00 pm PST. Any funds raised during the campaign for PSP will be used to induct new scholars and a total of $15,000 will be given away to the top earning organization in the challenge. We’re ready to raise as much money as we can so we can win the $15,000 grand prize donation.
