Scholar Goal-Setting Meetings

During the month of October, we were able to reconnect with PSP scholars in southern and northern California. During these meetings, we were reminded of the special privilege of being a part of PSP and the responsibilities that come with it. PSP Museum Outings

Scholars Adjust to High School

29 PSP scholars are now high school freshman! Transitioning to high school can be difficult as students have to familiarize themselves with new facilities, classmates, and teachers. Our freshmen are making a strong transition and know they can count on the support of their mentors and PSP if they need academic or personal support. They have all been in high school for around three months now and they’re sharing their thoughts on their transition to high school with us.

Back-to-School Tips from PSP Mentors

New PSP Board Vice Chair Ray Andry

Ray Andry was voted as vice chair to the PSP board on Saturday, September 16. He is the Assistant Superintendent for the Mountain View School District and mentored three students through the program. He is excited to begin his new role and use his position as an opportunity to broaden the scope of PSP and strengthen our connections to scholars and the communities we serve.

Q & A with PSP Alumni in Graduate School

25 % of PSP college graduates go on to pursue a graduate degree! Melissa R. and Guadalupe B. are PSP alumni from the Lennox class of 2012. They both earned their Bachelor’s degree’s last year and are now beginning their first year of graduate school! We asked them about their career paths and for some advice to our current PSP scholars. PSP College Success Retreat at UCLA!

On August 4-6 rising 70 high school juniors and seniors and 13 mentors and staff joined us for three action packed days at UCLA! The PSP staff created workshops and lectures to help the scholars learn about the college application and financial aid process. Scholars even got to experience one of the UCLA housing facilities and dining halls for the weekend!

PSP Class of 2017 Graduation

On June 17, 2017 we held a graduation ceremony at the Center at Cathedral Plaza for PSP graduating class of 2017! We had three graduation ceremonies for our class of 2017 scholars in Fort Bragg, Ukiah and Los Angeles. The Los Angeles graduation was for 32 scholars who graduated from high school and PSP. We are so proud of our graduates and all of their achievements during their six years in the program and we can’t wait to see all of the amazing things they accomplish during their college careers! This year, 100% of our graduates are attending college and 85% of those will be attending a four year university this fall.
